The "KING"

Some people grew up playing with LEGO, others grew up rocking to the "King."

Put the two together, and you get....a fusion of everlasting fun that never leaves the building.

To commemorate the 34th anniversary of Elvis passing, I went to Viva Las Vegas, memorialized the "King" the only way I know how, and did a quick comparison of the two legends.

Here's how they stacked up:

Elvis-Most popular singer of our time

LEGO-Most popular toy of our time

Elvis-A cultural icon

LEGO-A cultural phenomenom

Elvis-Born in 1935

LEGO-Company named in 1934 (so close)

Elvis-The top selling solo artist in the history of popular music

LEGO-One of the top selling toys of all time

Elvis-Regarded as one of the most important figures in 2oth century pop culture

LEGO-One of the most highly regarded companies in the world

Elvis-Sex symbol that attracted thrones of woman

LEGO-okay, never mind

Life Size Lego House?

Yes, there is and nobody wanted it except my son Shannon Michael, of course we couldn't afford to go get it, not to mention what it would cost to barg it to Florida...LOL James May built it, with running hot water shower and working toilet, what more do you need? We think would be quite cool in our back yard. Great conversation piece.

From Corporate Lawyer On Wall Street to Lego Sculpter!!

A New York artist is looking to convey love through Legos.
The Hyatt Regency Huntington Beach Resort and Spa is displaying the Lego sculpture "Heartfelt" by Nathan Sawaya this Valentine's Day weekend.
Sawaya's sculpture depicts the bust of man constructed out of white Legos with an open chest and a bright red Lego heart in the center.
The sculpture, which took about three weeks and more than 7,500 Legos to build, offers a unique twist on the expression of love.
"That piece is really about expressing my vulnerability," Sawaya said. "That's what the genesis of the inspiration was."
Sawaya's piece will be on display at the Hyatt through Sunday.
Sawaya, 35, shared his story with about trading life on Wall Street for Legos, his inspiration for his pieces and the quirky requests he gets from some Hollywood A-listers.

Q. Question: How did you get into Lego art?

A. Answer: I was a corporate lawyer on Wall Street for a few years but I'd come home at the end of the day and I wanted to be creative.
I grew up doing sculpture and I just kind of went back to that.
About nine years ago I challenged myself to make large-scale sculptures using just Legos instead of the traditional media that I grew up with. Soon I started getting commissions from all over the world and I realized there was a demand for this kind of art.

Rachel Ray's Amazing Smile Captured Forever!

Nathan Sawaya claims he can build anything out of Legos - so how about a Lego Rachael? He's done it! Hear Nate's reaction to revealing "Lego Rachael" to the real Rachael.

The Flaming C Gets Bricked

The brick version of Conan O'Brien's alter ego,
the Flaming C, was well received by Conan and the rest of San Diego Comic-Con. Team Coco put together an entire art gallery of the fine art of the Flaming C. it was quite the popular attraction, and I was very excited to have the big brick version in the front window. Conan also enjoyed the opportunity to make fun of me. Who
doesn't?

If you think the pictures look cool, check out the video below.
